For nearly three decades, our laboratory has been at the forefront of pioneering research in regenerative medicine, with a focus on developing cell-based therapies to combat heart disease. Our research has demonstrated the therapeutic potential of pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived heart muscle cells in both small and large animal models of cardiac injury. Along the way, we have tackled critical challenges, ranging from sourcing cells, scaling up to clinically-relevant manufacturing, improving transplantation efficiency, and addressing complications such as transient arrhythmias. This work holds promise to transform the lives of millions affected by heart disease.
